Coalition for Healthy Kids

The Coalition for Healthy Kids (CHK) is a strong collaborative of community partners who are committed to making a difference in the lives of children and their families by combatting childhood obesity in our community. United Way has teamed with more than a dozen greater Danbury organizations, such as Danbury Hospital, the City of Danbury and the Regional YMCA, to eliminate many of the barriers to healthier lifestyles.

In addition, CHK works to generate awareness of obesity issues and advocates for policy changes that will help foster healthier communities, such as increasing access to healthy foods and promoting workplace wellness programs.

IThe Coalition’s Let’s Go! 5-2-1-0 plan for healthy living educates the public about health risks and healthier lifestyle behaviors and choices, seeking to make the “healthy choice, the easy choice” for everyone. Learn more about Let’s Go! 5-2-1-0

At the heart of the Coalition, we adhere to these core beliefs:

  1. Health happens where we live, work and play.
  2. Parents, Caregivers and Teachers are role models.
  3. CHK is committed to making a difference.
  4. Building a healthy family means making choices in food and exercise that will be fun, enjoyable and prevent poor health and obesity.
