United Way Celebrates Service, Honors Volunteers at Annual Stamford Volunteer Day Event

More than 20 Stamford residents were honored for their service to the community

STAMFORD, Conn. (February 2, 2018) — United Way of Western Connecticut (UWWC) hosted its 21st annual Stamford Volunteer Day event on Friday, January 26 at the Harry Bennett Branch of The Ferguson Library. More than 20 Stamford residents were honored for their commitment to the local nonprofit community during 2017, including volunteers from organizations like All Our Kin, Building One Community, Community Learning Centers, Domestic Violence Crisis Center, Family Centers, Inspirica, Person-to-Person, Saint Joseph Parenting Center, Stamford Public Education Foundation, and Women’s Mentoring Network.

Stamford Volunteer Day is an annual event organized by United Way of Western Connecticut to recognize volunteers for their work with Stamford nonprofits, which is vital to not only the organizations and agencies, but the Stamford community as a whole. Stamford nonprofit agencies nominate their volunteers and a review team comprised of Stamford residents determine the honorees.

“It is so important to recognize the volunteers in our community who diligently and quietly work to meet the needs of the most vulnerable,” said Kimberly Morgan, CEO of UWWC. “The important work of nonprofits is not possible without the help of dedicated volunteers.”
