United Way of Western Connecticut Partners With Pitney Bowes To Inspire Middle School Students

Stamford Public School students receive midterm survival kits

STAMFORD, Conn. (January 25, 2017) United Way of Western Connecticut is proud to announce that they had partnered with Pitney Bowes in the development of an in -house volunteer activity.

The project involved more than 50 Pitney Bowes employees assembling 600 midterm survival kits to inspire sixth grade students preparing for midterm exams. These are the first midterm exams that these students take after transitioning from elementary to middle school. The care packages help reduce student stress by ensuring that they have everything they need for the test, including handwritten notes that provide encouragement and build confidence.

“We are delighted to participate in this great community effort. Our employee volunteers are dedicated to supporting education in their local communities, and this initiative is wonderful example of that commitment,” said Kathleen Ryan Mufson, Director, Corporate Citizenship and Philanthropy, Pitney Bowes and President, Pitney Bowes Foundation.

Students from Cloonan, Rippowan and Turn of River Middle Schools in the Stamford Public School District were the beneficiaries of the project.

“The transition to middle school is a critical time in a student’s educational life,” said Kim Morgan, CEO of United Way of Western Connecticut. “We are pleased to partner with Pitney Bowes on this service project to support student success in the Stamford Public Schools.”
